Appointment System Posted or Updated on 9 Dec 2013

The following Patient Information leaflet has been developed with our Patient Participation Group-

PATIENT INFORMATION LEAFLET- DUNCHURCH SURGERY APPOINTMENT SYSTEM

Routine appointments with doctors are pre-bookable up to 6 weeks in advance. The number of routine appointments available per day/week is dependant on the number of doctors working that day/week.

You are able to book appointments by phoning during surgery hours or by coming to the surgery in person during surgery hours.

As of October 2013 there will be a proportion of appointments that will be bookable online. You will need to register for a secure account and password; you will then be able to book/cancel certain appointments online as well as ordering repeat prescriptions.

On the day appointments- each day the doctors have a proportion of appointments that will be released on the day at 8.30am, which is why you may be asked to call back on certain days at 8.30am if you wish to see a particular doctor.

Duty doctor- every day there is a duty doctor who will see patients who require an ‘urgent appointment’. This means something that needs to be seen that day. These appointments should not be booked for reviews. Duty doctor appointments are released on the day at 8.30am and can be booked for urgent issues until 10am. The appointments are booked consecutively. Anyone who contacts the surgery after 10am requesting an urgent appointment will be asked to phone back at 1pm when a small number of afternoon appointments are released. This allows the doctors to schedule their house calls etc.
